Itinerary

Departure from GRR will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, January 6. We will arrive in Beijing at 4:30pm on Thursday (7). The plan is to visit sites such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Tienanmen Square and the Pearl Market on the 8th and 9th. Sunday will be worship and some self-directed learning in Beijing. Monday and Tuesday (11, 12) will be spent visiting businesses, and on Tuesday night we will take an over-night train to Shanghai. We will be in Shanghai until Monday (18) visiting businesses such as GM, Kotoni and Bristol Myers Squibb. Monday night we'll take the train to Nanjing and spend Tuesday (19) sight-seeing. On Wednesday (20) we'll visit a cellphone manufacturer then travel to Hangzhou to tour businesses until Monday (25) morning when we take the train back to Shanghai for some more self-directed learning and the final group dinner before we leave. The next day, Tuesday (26), we will take the MagLev to the airport and fly back to Grand Rapids. Departure is around 5pm, and through the magic of time zones we will go back in time and arrive in Chicago at 4:30pm. A couple of hours of waiting, and our return flight will have us in GRR sometime in the 9 o'clock hour.

The basic schedule is subject to change of course, but tentatively this is what we're looking at.
